*Tiny* Coding Cats

Tiny Coding Cats is a 6-weekend program for students aged 8-12 years old, with a fun curriculum based on the world’s most famous block-based coding language - Scratch.  Starting in October, the course will deliver creative coding lessons to 100 students in Phnom Penh, based on the innovative programs from Saturday Kids, Singapore.

This community project is a partnership between Saturday Kids, Global Shapers Phnom Penh Hub and Raintree, made possible with the generous support of Smart Axiata and in partnership with University of Puthisastra (UP). All courses are free of charge for students who are successfully selected from the application. APPLY NOW as class sizes are limited, and read more below for more details.

What will students learn?
Students will learn not only digital literacy and technical skills, but also critical thinking skills through coding. The interactive classes will engage children in a playful and dynamic curriculum, by our passionate instructors. Throughout the course they will:

- Learn key coding concepts
- Design and create their own animations and games using Scratch
- Develop problem-solving and logical thinking skills
- Improve communication and presentation skills
- Develop curiosity and self-confidence

What language are classes conducted in?
Classes are primarily conducted in Khmer, but all trainers are bi-lingual (Khmer and English). Students must have very basic proficiency in English.

When are classes?
You may choose from two class schedules:
Course A (morning session): 6 consecutive Saturday mornings* (8:30 - 11:00) of class from 5th October-16th November 2019
Course B (afternoon session): 6 consecutive Saturday afternoons* (13:30 - 16:00) of class from 5th October-16th November 2019
* Students MUST be available to attend all classes for their course to be invited to the final graduation showcase

How much are course fees?
Coding Cats is free of charge for all students in Phnom Penh who are successfully selected for the program.

How do you apply?
Applications are open to students aged 8 to 12 years old with no prior coding experience, who are currently studying in Phnom Penh. Applications are selective as we have limited class sizes. Applications will be accepted until Friday 6th September 2019 at 5pm.
